Sundlauenen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sundlauenen is a Swiss village on the northern shore of Lake Thun between Unterseen and Merligen . It belongs to the political community of Beatenberg , but many residents align themselves with the neighboring Unterseen, where Sundlauenen's students also go to school. Sundlauenen has the postcode number 3800.

In November 2017, a large majority of the population voted in favor of moving to Unterseen, but this was rejected by a majority by the voters in Beatenberg. In the years 1748-1822 the village belonged to the parish in Unterseen.

In Sundlauenen there is access to the St. Beatus Caves . The settlement extends along the lakeshore, but there is a cluster west of the Sundgraben. There is a boat to Interlaken West and Thun from the Beatushöhlen-Sundlauenen pier.
