Merligen is a town in the canton of Bern in Switzerland with 888 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2013). It belongs to the municipality of Sigriswil . The village in the Bernese Oberland lies at an altitude of 568 meters on the shores of Lake Thun on an alluvial cone, right at the exit of the Justistal valley .
Attractions
The church of Merligen , the symbol of the community, stands on the rocky spur above the lake . It is a popular wedding church due to its location. The four large glass windows on the south wall with the figures of Noah, Moses, Christ and John are by Fred Stauffer . The painter Marcus Jacobi designed the frescoes on the choir wall. On the road from Thun on the right bank of the lake in the direction of Interlaken , between Gunten and the village center of Merligen lies the Ralligen estate .

Merligen is served by the bus line 21 of the STI transport company, which in turn replaced the Thun – Beatenbucht trolleybus that ran between 1952 and 1982 . From 1913 to 1952, the Steffisburg – Thun – Interlaken tram ran on the section .
