The Merligen Church is a church in the village of Merligen in the canton of Bern in Switzerland . It belongs to the Reformed parish of Sigriswil .
history
In the 1930s, an initiative committee was founded which called for a separate church for the village of Merligen, which is part of the Sigriswil parish. A visit to the Sigriswil church meant a one-hour walk for the residents of Merligen. On October 25, 1936, the Sigriswil parish approved the construction of a new church. The Thun architect Jacques Wipf was responsible for the project . The building materials used are stones from the Balmholz quarry and local spruce wood . The bell lifted on June 25, 1937, and the church was consecrated on September 26, 1937.
In 1948 a cemetery was added to the church . In 1960 she received a two-manual organ from Orgelbau Geneva AG, which replaced the previously existing harmonium .
