Gut Ralligen in the Bernese Oberland

The Good Ralligen is a country estate in the village Merligen (municipality Sigriswil ) on Lake Thun in the canton of Bern , Switzerland .

The manor house can be traced back historically to the 14th century and was used as a vineyard by the Interlaken Monastery . After the Reformation was introduced in 1528, it was mostly owned by Bernese patricians or citizens of the city of Thun until the 19th century . After it was acquired and renovated by the Bern merchant G. Christen, it housed a housekeeping school for decades.

Gut Ralligen has belonged to the Evangelical Community of Christ Bearers since 1976 and is used as a guest house for holidays and retreats . The Ralligen estate can be reached with the bus line 21 of the STI transport company , which in turn replaced the Thun – Beatenbucht trolleybus that ran between 1952 and 1982 . From 1913 to 1952 the Steffisburg – Thun – Interlaken tram ran on the section , also stopping at Gut Ralligen.
