The Sunpor plastic GesmbH is an Austrian manufacturer of EPS -Kunststoffen (commonly Styrofoam ) with locations in St. Pölten districts Stattersdorf and Radlberg . In particular, the company supplies manufacturers of thermal insulation boards for building insulation. With Lambdapor, SUNPOR has developed the technology for gray EPS , which enables insulation performance and resource savings . EPS is also used in the packaging industry.

history

Founded in 1986 in St. Pölten, the company is wholly owned by the Norwegian ON Sunde AS. Sunpor has been producing gray EPS since 2003 under the Lambdapor product brand .

The commissioning of a further production facility in the St. Pölten district of Radlberg increased the production of SUNPOR to approx. 200,000 tons of EPS granulate annually. This makes Sunpor one of the three leading EPS manufacturers in Europe with a market share of around 12 percent.

The company positions itself on the market as an EPS designer who, in addition to the marketable applications, develops EPS plastics for specific requirements. Around 85 percent of production is exported, mainly in Europe.

Products

Building insulation

The construction industry is the largest customer for EPS from Sunpor. With Lambdapor, SUNPOR provides gray EPS , an insulation technology that provides insulation performance of below 30 mW / (m · K) for the first time in a cost range accessible to the construction industry. The technological principle behind this is formed by graphite particles embedded in the EPS plastic, which reflect heat and thus increase the EPS insulation performance by a further 20–30 percent. In addition, EPS is moisture-resistant.

Packaging and impact protection

For the packaging industry, Sunpor produces various types of EPS with Suncolor as the lead product. The focus is on the processability to fine molded parts, differentiated coloring and optimal damping properties. Around every second bicycle or sports helmet in Europe is made from SUNPOR EPS.
