Sunwar , Sunuwar , or Kõits ( कोँइच ; kõica; also Koinch and Koincha) is a Kiranti language spoken by the Sunwar in Nepal and parts of Sikkim . It was the first language to be extensively attested by the Himalayan Languages ​​Project . Other names are Kõits Lo ( कोँइच लो ; kõica lo), Kiranti-Kõits ( किराँती-कोँइच ; kirā̃tī-kõica), Mukhiya ( मुखिया ; mukhiyā).

distribution

Sunwar is mainly spoken in the Sunwar region, which the speakers themselves call Koĩc . Sunwar is located in the districts of Rāmechāp and Okhalḍhūngā, 120 km east of Kathmandu.

font

Although Sunwar is predominantly written in the Devanagari script , there is also a separate writing system, Jenticha , which has only been in use to a limited extent since the 1940s.
