Super Moonies was a German pop group founded in 1998 due to the success of the TV broadcast of the anime series Sailor Moon . It was seen as an attempt by the German record industry to use anime and anime music as a draft horse for German in-house productions.
The group's greatest successes were the second and third theme song for the Sailor Moon series ( Fights Sailor Moon and Power of the Moon ) and appearances as the opening act for Jasmin Wagner (Blümchen) and Aaron Carter from winter 1998. Overall, the group sold more than a million records.
Band members
Super Moonies consisted of the singer Bianca Hanif (alias Kisu = Japanese kiss ) and the two dancers Gabriela Gottschalk (alias Sailor Moon) and Jascha Anantapongse (alias Tuxedo Mask).
Bianca Hanif and Gabriela Gottschalk had previously been cheerleaders for the Hamburg Blue Angels , one of the cheerleading squads of the Hamburg Blue Devils - as was Jasmin Wagner (Blümchen).
Gabriela Gottschalk now works as a choreographer in Hamburg and is a member of the pop group Hot Banditoz . Jascha Anantapongse is a dentist in Seevetal.
marketing
The freshly onset anime boom in Germany was cleverly used for advertising - when the extensive range of products offered by the Japanese music industry, especially for anime soundtracks, was still hardly known among German fans.
