Super Noah's Ark 3D (also known as Super 3D Noah's Ark due to the lettering design ) is a Christian first-person shooter that was developed by Wisdom Tree and published in 1994 for the SNES .
It is the only game for Super Nintendo that was sold commercially without having been licensed by Nintendo . As a result, it cannot run on its own, but requires a second, fully licensed SNES game, which is attached to the module of Super Noah's Ark 3D in order to bypass the console's copy protection .
The game environment is based entirely on the Wolfenstein 3D engine licensed by id Software .
In the game itself, you steer Noah through his ark in a simple 3D environment , where you meet animals that have to be fed until they fall asleep peacefully. Other animal species appear at regular intervals and at the end of each level an animal that is unclean in the Jewish sense appears as the final boss . Noah has a sling known from David , which is available in differently developed versions, and different types of fruit, which are limited in terms of quantity. As a last option, when the fruit reserves are exhausted, grain can be fed by hand .
Super Noah's Ark 3D was also released in 1995 as a DOS version for home computers .
The game first became known to a broad masses through the Angry Video Game Nerd , who reviewed it in 2006 in the 17th episode of his eponymous satirical internet video series about video games .
On June 23, 2015, a revised version of the game was released on the Steam gaming platform .
