Supergran is the name of a television series based on the books by Forrest Wilson, which was produced and broadcast in the UK from 1985-87 .

The gang boss Scunner Campbell has stolen a machine from the inventor Professor Black that can equip normal people with supernatural abilities. When he wants to test the machine, Grandma Smith, who is watching a football game of her twelve-year-old grandson Willard's nearby, is struck by an accident instead of the gangster. From then on, the lady hunts criminals as a super gran and helps other people.

  • A total of 2 seasons of 13 episodes each and a Christmas special were shot.
  • The title song, interpreted by Billy Connolly , stayed in the British charts for 9 weeks and reached number 32.
  • Gudrun Ure, 59 when filming began, only had one stunt double and did most of the stuns himself.
  • A total of 2 computer games were produced based on the series.
  • Initially, 25 episodes were broadcast on German television (from June to October 1992 on ZDF), later another episode was shown on 3sat. The series was last repeated in 1995 on ZDF.
  • In 1994 the series was also shown on Austrian radio .
  • In Spain the series was called La Superabuela .
