Bill Shine

Bill Shine (born July 4, 1963 ) worked for over 20 years as a producer and manager at Fox News . On July 5, 2018, he became the White House communications director and thus a close associate of US President Donald Trump . On March 8, 2019, his resignation from this post was announced.

Life

Shine grew up with his twin brother in Farmingville, Long Island (in upstate New York).

He received a BA in Communication from the State University of New York at Oswego . He then worked from 1985 as a producer for local TV stations on Long Island .

Shine worked for Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes for two decades . On July 21, 2016, Ailes stepped down from Fox News after employees accused him of sexual harassment. In August, Rupert Murdoch named Bill Shine and Jack Abernethy as vice presidents of Fox News. On May 1, 2017, Shine left Fox News after employees accused him of sexual harassment.

In June 2018, US President Trump offered Shine to become White House communications director and White House deputy chief of staff . On July 5, 2018, Shine was officially appointed.

On March 8, 2019, the White House announced that Shine was stepping down and serving as an advisor on the Donald Trump 2020 presidential campaign.
Shine was the fifth communications director during Donald Trump's presidency (list here ).
