Superman Is Dead (short form SID ) is an Indonesian punk rock band from Kuta , which was formed in 1995. They are the first Indonesian punk band to get a contract with a major label .

history

The band was originally named after the song "Superman Silvergun" by the band Stone Temple Pilots , but was later renamed to "Superman Is Dead". The band produced their first three albums "Case 15", "Superman Is Dead" and "Bad Bad Bad" on unknown indie labels until they finally signed with Sony-BMG Indonesia in 2003 . After long negotiations about being allowed to sing the majority of their songs in English and about their own image as an artist, the contract with Sony-BMG Indonesia was finally concluded.

Thus, SID became the first Balinese band on a major label, the first band in all of Indonesia to sing the majority of their songs in English, but above all the first Indonesian punk rock band to enjoy the status of a third party. To release Welt-Land on a major label.

Her fourth album "Kuta Rock City" followed, the title being a homage to the surfing, shopping and party metropolis of Kuta in Bali. They then won the " MTV Indonesia Award for The Best New Artist 2003" and the "AMI Award for The Best New Artist 2003" and were nominated again in 2006 for the "AMI Award 2006 for The Best Rock Album". In addition to some older productions on cassette format and various videos, the albums "The Hangover Decade" (2004) and "Black Market Love" (2006) followed. In February 2009 the album "Angels And The Outsiders" was released. In the same year the band played eleven concerts in the USA as part of the Warped Tour .
