Surface Hub

Microsoft Surface Hub is a large-screen device for video conferences with an integrated whiteboard and Microsoft Office applications.

The device has been available for order since July 2015 - delivery started on January 2016.

The device is available in two versions:

  • As a 55-inch device with 1920 × 1080 pixels and integrated HD 4600 graphics with Intel Core i5
  • as well as an 84-inch model with 3840 × 2160 pixels ( 4K ) and Intel Core i7.

The aspect ratio is 16: 9 in each case. Surface Hub runs on the Windows 10 operating system and has Microsoft Office , Skype for Business , OneNote and Windows Universal Apps preinstalled, which are optimized for the big screen. Additional programs can only be installed if they have been created or customized for the Surface Hub.

Up to three people can write or operate the screen at the same time using touch or pen. Surface Hub has dual 1080p cameras, a 4-element array microphone, dual stereo speakers, and two Surface Hub Pen pens. The transmission technologies are Gigabit Ethernet , WLAN in accordance with IEEE 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy , NFC reader and Miracast . Various feet and wall mounting options are available.

The device is intended for collaboration in teams and groups in offices or meeting rooms with or without the involvement of other participants via video conference . Spontaneous collaboration is to be encouraged by not having to log in to the system and by allowing participants to wirelessly contribute content from their Windows or Android devices via Miracast or NFC . Remote participants can add content to the whiteboard from their PC. When a meeting ends, the meeting notes are sent to the attendees as OneNote files and deleted from the Surface Hub. Surface Hubs can be managed centrally. Participants can book the device for meetings directly via Exchange and start online meetings with one click.
