Suro's grave

Suro ( kor.  수로 ), or Sureung ( kor.  수릉 , Hanja  首 陵 ), (* 42 ; † allegedly 199 ) was the founder and king of the state Geumgwan Gaya . There are a number of legends surrounding Suro . So he was born from a golden egg and was over 150 years old. He was married to Heo Hwang-ok ( kor.  허황옥 , Hanja  許黃玉 ), who was also over 150 years old.

According to the legend in the Korean Chronicles, the Samguk Yusa , the wife of Suro, Princess Heo Hwang-ok , is from India , more precisely from the Kingdom of Ayuta . It is not known where this kingdom was located. However, historical records suggest that her family belonged to the Ay Dynasty , which was part of the Tamil Pandya Dynasty, and so it is believed that she came from southern India.

The tomb of Suro can be visited today in Gimhae .
