Surprise Moriri (born March 20, 1980 in Matibidi , Graskop ) is a former South African football player .

Club career

Moriri rose in 2003 with the Silver Stars as champion of the second division season Inland Stream in the Premier Soccer League and moved a year later to the Mamelodi Sundowns . After a rather mixed first season, the goal-scoring attacking player led the Sundowns in 2006 and 2007 to two championships in a row. For his role in the first title win, he was honored with the awards Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season . While they were ousted from the top in the league in the following years, they won the SAA Supa 8 (2007) and the Nedbank Cup (2008).

National team

Moriri made his debut on May 20, 2006 in the COSAFA Cup 2006 against Swaziland in the South African national team . At the beginning of 2008 he was part of the South African squad at the African Cup of Nations in Ghana, but retired with the team after the preliminary round. By national coach Joel Santana Moriri was appointed to the provisional squad for the Confederations Cup in May 2009 , but injured his knee during a training session with the national team and was unable to participate in the tournament due to injury.
