Susan Arnold

Susan Arnold (born 1954 ) is a member of the Board of Directors of The Walt Disney Company . She became a director of the company in 2007 after being named vice president of Procter & Gamble in 2004 .

Education

Susan Arnold graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree and the University of Pittsburgh with a Master of Business Administration . Since 2002 she has been on Fortune Magazine's 50 Most Powerful Women in Business List , and in 2004 and 2005 she was listed on the Wall Street Journal's 50 Women to Watch list . Additionally, in 2005 she was number # 57 on The 100 Most Powerful Women list published by Forbes Magazine . She sits on the board of directors of Catalyst , a non-profit organization that supports women in business.

Career

Arnold's career at Procter & Gamble began in 1980. She held various managing and marketing positions before becoming manager of Procter & Gamble's cosmetics division in Canada in 1990. In 1999, she assumed responsibility for Procter & Gamble's personal beauty business , the first time a woman had assumed a position at the presidential level within the company. According to Forbes business magazine , Arnold's career began with a job as a brand assistant at Dawn / Ivory Snow Group. In June 2009, after a two-year race to succeed AG Lafely as CEO, she was defeated by her competitor Bob McDonald, who will lead Procter & Gamble as CEO from July 1, 2009.

Private life

Arnold and her partner Diana Salter have a son and a daughter. She is one of the most famous homosexuals holding such a high position in America.
