Susanna Tamaro

Susanna Tamaro (born December 12, 1957 in Trieste , Italy ) is an Italian writer who became known with her world success Go where your heart takes you . She is the great niece of Italo Svevo .

In 1976 Susanna Tamaro moved to Rome . Here she trained as a film director at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia . After graduating, she made several science films for Italian television ( RAI ). In 1990 she was discovered by Federico Fellini ; he had read Per voce sola (German title: Love ) and was deeply touched (“She was able to move me without embarrassing me”; Federico Fellini). Today Susanna Tamaro lives and works in Rome and near Orvieto ( Umbria ).

  • 1991: Prize of the Italian PEN Club for Per voce sola.
