Susanne Hofmann

Susanne Hofmann (* 1963 ) is a German architect .

education

1983 to 1987 Susanne Hofmann studied architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts and at the Technical University of Munich . Susanne Hofmann studied architecture from 1988 to 1992 at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. From 1988 to 1989 she was a DAAD scholarship holder.

Teaching

From 2003 to 2014 she headed the study reform project "Die Baupiloten" at the TU Berlin. Since 2009 she has been a professor in the Department of Design and Building Construction at the TU Berlin . In 2012 Hofmann received his doctorate with the title "Atmosphere as a participatory design strategy" summa cum laude. Since 2012 she has held visiting professorships at the University of Auckland and the Design Intensive Studio. She is a visiting professor at the University of Sheffield .

Construction activity

After graduating, Hofmann gained experience in project management in various architectural offices in Great Britain and Germany. In 2001 Susanna Hofmann founded "Die Baupiloten BDA". The latter project is a development of a type of planning that the future users of buildings are already involved in the planning phase. The aim is to enable residents to participate in the construction process. Since it was founded in 2001, many kindergartens, schools and student residences have been designed together with the future residents.
