Susanne Schuster

Susanne Schuster (born May 9, 1963 in Bietigheim ) is a former German swimmer who competed for the Federal Republic of Germany . She won an Olympic medal in 1984.

Susanne Schuster swam for SV Bietigheim . In 1978 she won two silver medals over 100 meters freestyle and over 400 meters freestyle at the European Youth Championships. At the World Swimming Championships in Berlin in 1978 , she competed in the 400 meter freestyle, but narrowly missed the B final in 17th place. In 1981 she finished eighth in the 200 meter freestyle at the European Championships in Split; the German 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay made up of Marion Aizpor , Karin Seick , Ute Neubert and Susanne Schuster won silver behind the relay from the GDR.

At the European Championships in Rome in 1983, Schuster finished seventh in the 100 meter freestyle. The season decision was won by the GDR season ahead of the Dutch women, Karin Seick, Susanne Schuster, Iris Zscherpe and Ina Beyermann came in third . At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Schuster swam the 100 meter freestyle to seventh place. The US women won the relay race ahead of the Dutch women, the bronze medal went to Iris Zscherpe, Susanne Schuster, Christiane Pielke and Karin Seick. In the same line-up, the season reached the second place behind the GDR season at the 1985 European Championships in Sofia.

In 1986 and 1987 Susanne Schuster won the German championship title over 100 meters butterfly. At the European Championships in 1987 in Strasbourg, she therefore competed in the layer relay , with Svenja Schlicht , Britta Dahm , Susanne Schuster and Christiane Pielke, the relay won the bronze medal behind the GDR relay and the Italians.
