Ina Beyermann

Ina Beyermann (born April 11, 1965 in Leverkusen ) is a former German swimmer who competed for the Federal Republic of Germany . She won two Olympic medals in 1984.

Ina Beyermann began her career at SV Rhenania Köln under the coaches Gerhard Hetz and Elmar Schneider, she later switched to study in Hamburg, where she started for SG Hamburg . In 1980 she won three titles at the European Junior Championships on the freestyle courses from 200 meters to 800 meters. In 1981 she took fourth place over 400 meters freestyle and fifth place over 200 meters freestyle at the European Championships in Split . Two years later at the European Championships in Rome she was fourth over 400 meters, fifth over 200 meters and sixth over 800 meters freestyle. With the 4 × 200-meter freestyle relay she won silver in Rome, with the 4 × 100-meter freestyle relay and with the individual relay she won bronze.

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , Beyermann was seventh over 200 meters freestyle and eighth over 100 meters butterfly. Over 200 meters butterfly she won bronze behind the American Mary T. Meagher and the Australian Karen Phillips . The layer relay made up of Svenja Schlicht , Ute Hasse , Ina Beyermann and Karin Seick reached second place behind the US relay.

After Beyermann was not in top form for a few years due to shoulder problems, she was able to qualify again for the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 . In the 200 meter butterfly she was second in the B final and tenth.

Ina Beyermann won over 30 German championship titles in singles and with the relay and set 24 DSV records .
