Susanne Schwarz-Raacke

Susanne Schwarz-Raacke (* 1958 in Bremen ) is a German industrial designer and professor for design principles and product design at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art . She lives and works in Berlin .

Career

After studying educational sciences from 1978 to 1980 at the University of Hamburg , she completed the study of industrial design at the University of Fine Arts (HFBK) Hamburg , which she graduated with a diploma in 1986. She then worked as an artistic assistant at the University of Hanover / Institute for Industrial Design and at the Berlin University of the Arts , today Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) in the Department of Design, Design Basics. From 1991 to 2000 she lived in Switzerland. During this time she was employed as an industrial designer in the design team of the telecommunications company "ascom".

At the same time, she was a member of the project team to set up the art and design department at the FH Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), which conceived and founded the industrial design department at the FHNW. From 1999 to 2001 she was a lecturer at the Institute for Industrial Design at the University of Art and Design FHNW.

Back in Germany she worked as a freelance designer. From 2004 to 2009 she was visiting professor at the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin. Since 2009 she has been professor for design principles and product design at the art college. Her design practice focuses on the design of telecommunication devices and machines, as well as products in the areas of cooking, food and nutrition. At the beginning of 2010 she initiated and founded the greenlab, a laboratory for sustainable design strategies, at the Weißensee Kunsthochschule berlin together with Zane Berzina and Heike Selmer .
