Susanne Striker

Susanne Stürmer (born November 1963 in Leer , East Friesland ) is a German economist and manager. Since 2013 she has been President of the Babelsberg Film University Konrad Wolf .

Life

Striker grew up in Hamburg. She studied economics , from 1987 at the Free University of Berlin and at the London School of Economics and graduated with a degree in economics. In 1996 she did her doctorate at the Free University of Berlin with a dissertation on the subject of network access and property rights in telecommunications. She worked as an assistant manager for the auditing company Price Waterhouse Corporate Finance GmbH and headed the regulatory economics department at o.tel.o communications GmbH .

From 1998 Stürmer worked for UFA Film & TV Produktion GmbH , where she became managing director in 2006. Among other things, she headed the departments Business Development / UFA Interactive / UFA Lab, Legal & Business Affairs, Marketing & Communication as well as market research at UFA Film & TV Produktion GmbH. In 2013 she was awarded the European Civis Online Prize for the political rap casting show www.RAPutation-casting.tv, in which Ufa Lab was involved .

In addition to her work for UFA GmbH, Stürmer began to work part-time as a professor at the Potsdam-Babelsberg Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television (HFF) in October 2011. There she taught "New Media Production" in the film and television production course. In January 2013 she was elected to succeed the then President of the HFF, Dieter Wiedemann , and took office on October 1, 2013. At the same time she ended her work for UFA GmbH and her teaching activities. Under Stürmer's presidency, the university was converted into a university in July 2014, and she has been helping to develop its profile ever since. It promotes contact with the film industry and practical courses. In 2019 she was re-elected President of the Film University.

Since July 8, 2016, Stürmer has been a member of the ZDF Television Council as a representative of the State of Brandenburg , where she is a member of the Program Committee Program Management. She is also a member of the arbitration board of the ARD state broadcasters. She belongs to the board of directors of media.net berlinbrandenburg e. V. and sits on the supervisory board of the Erich Pommer Institute . She has been a board member of the European League of Institutes of the Arts since 2016.

Stürmer lives in Berlin and has two children.
