Susanne Tatje
Susanne Tatje (* 1953 in Freistatt ) is a qualified sociologist and in 2004 was the first demography officer in a municipality in the Federal Republic of Germany . For the Bielefeld demographics concept "Demographic Change as Opportunity?" Received Tatje the 2006 Innovation Award of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . From 2011 to the beginning of 2017 she was the head of the Office for Demography and Statistics of the City of Bielefeld. Today she is a consultant for questions about the future and a freelancer for a Berlin consulting agency that advises the public sector and related institutions.
Life
After graduating from high school, Tatje studied sociology at Bielefeld University from 1972 and graduated in 1977 with a diploma in sociology. She worked in different professional fields, e.g. B. as a research assistant at the University of Bielefeld, head of the department "Politics and Society" of the adult education center of the city of Bielefeld, head of department for fundamental issues and European politics as well as art, culture, science and education in the Ministry for the equality of women and men of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia Westphalia. Here she was z. B. Co-initiator of the award for women artists of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the study “Promotion of women through the allocation of funds” at universities by the Center for University Development (CHE).
From 2004 Tatje was head of the project “Demographic Development Planning” of the city of Bielefeld in the mayor's department and the first German demography officer in a municipality. As part of this work, she developed an overall urban concept with six demographic policy goals on integration, urban development , work, education, health and family, which was unanimously approved by the Bielefeld City Council in 2006. In 2006 Tatje received the innovation award of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for the concept and her work. Tatje was a member of the working group “Integration on site!” For the national integration plan of the federal government and a member of the steering group “Demographic Change” of the communal community center (KGSt) and the network of communal demography officers in North Rhine-Westphalia. It has developed the “demographic stamp” for the administration, which contains test criteria for planning concepts. From October 2011 to April 2017 she was head of the Office for Demography and Statistics of the City of Bielefeld, which served as a role model nationwide in this form. With an investigation in 2015 Tatje critically dealt with the "position of the demography officer in North Rhine-Westphalia" in cities and municipalities and participated in the demography strategy of the federal government. Today Tatje is a consultant for future issues and a freelancer at the Berlin consulting agency Next: Public, participates in the generation dialogue of the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth and in the Bielefeld- OWL female artist forum .
Tatje is the author of numerous specialist articles on demographic change. Her book We Have Our Way Through It (1992) dealt with women in everyday life after the war in Bielefeld, her children's book Our Future - My City (2012) explains demographic change in a child-friendly way. As part of her work for the city of Bielefeld, she was editor of the “Demographic Reports” of the city of Bielefeld, the “Info-Briefe: Demographie” and the publication series “Our Topic”, which deals with demographic issues such as health, education and work, until 2017.
