The Svarthamaren ( Norwegian for Black Hammer , English Black Cliff ) is a cliff on the east side of Bouvet Island in the South Atlantic . It rises south of Svartstranda on the Mowinckel coast .
Scientists from the Norwegian Polar Institute named it descriptively in 1981.
