The Svartstranda ( Norwegian for Black beach is) a narrow, black sandy beach on the Mowinckel Coast in the southeast of the subantarctic Bouvet Island in the South Atlantic . It extends over a length of 1.8 km between Cape Meteor and Svarthamaren .
Scientists from the Norwegian Polar Institute named it in 1980.
