Svatožizňa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Svatožizňa ( latin : Szuentezizna , Slovak : Svätožízňa ) was a Bohemian princess from the Přemyslid dynasty and sister of the Bohemian princes Knyaz Bořivoj I. As such, it was 871 in the context of a political marriage, the wife of the Moravian prince and later king Svatopluk I. You was most likely the mother of the later Moravian heir to the throne Mojmír II.

Thanks to this marriage, Svatopluk I was able to bind the most powerful Bohemian noble family - the Přemyslids - to himself and, after the death of Bořivoj I in 888, expand his territory to Bohemia in the name of Bořivoj's underage sons. The affiliation of Bohemia to Svatopluk's Great Moravian Empire was recognized by Arnulf of Carinthia in 890 .
