Svein Harberg (born July 30, 1958 in Bergen ) is a Norwegian politician of the conservative Høyre party . Since 2009 he has been a member of parliament in Storting .

Life

Near the end of school, Harberg worked in various positions as a sales employee, manager and independent entrepreneur. From 1999 to 2007 he sat in the local parliament of Grimstad , from 2003 he served as mayor of the municipality. From 2003 to 2009 he was also a member of the Fylkesting in what was then Aust-Agder Province .

Harberg moved into the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time in the 2009 general election . There he represents the constituency of Aust-Agder and he was initially a member of the church, education and research committee. Following the 2013 election , he moved to the Family and Culture Committee, where he was elected chairman. After the Storting election in 2017 , he was transferred to the Control and Constitutional Committee, where he took the position of deputy chairman. In October 2017 he became part of his party's parliamentary committee, and in March 2018 he took over the deputy chairmanship of the parliamentary group.
