Sven Meinhardt

Sven Meinhardt (born September 28, 1971 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a former German hockey player and Olympic champion .

Sven Meinhardt played for Uhlenhorst Mülheim and became German champions with this team in 1990, 1991, 1994, 1995 and 1997. From 1990 to 1996 Meinhardt won the European Champion's Cup with Mülheim seven times in a row .

The striker made his debut in 1990 in the German national hockey team . He won the 1991 European field hockey championship and finished third at the 1992 European Junior Championships. At the 1992 Olympic Games , Meinhardt took part in all seven games and achieved the first Olympic victory with the German team in twenty years.

For this, he and the German hockey Olympic team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on June 23, 1993.

After finishing fourth at the 1994 World Cup, Meinhardt won the European Field Hockey Championship for the second time in 1995. Meinhardt ended his career in the national team at the 1996 Olympic Games when the German team finished fourth. Meinhardt played a total of 101 international matches.
