Sven Rydell
Sven Åke Albert "Trollgubben" Rydell (born January 14, 1905 in Gothenburg , † April 4, 1975 ibid) was a Swedish football player . From July 1, 1932 to September 3, 2014 he was the record scorer of the Swedish national team before Zlatan Ibrahimović replaced him.
Career
Rydell played for Örgryte IS from 1924 to 1933 , with whom he became first Allsvenskan in 1926 and 1928 - the Swedish championship title was not officially awarded at the time. From 1930 to 1931 he played for the Redbergslids IK, known above all for his handball department . He also worked for Holmens IS . Overall, Rydell brought it to 156 goals in the highest Swedish league.
In the Swedish national team, the striker completed a total of 43 games between 1923 and 1932. He scored 49 goals, which corresponds to an average of 1.14 goals per game. At his only major international tournament, the 1924 Olympic Games , he won the bronze medal with Sweden. With a total of six goals he was together with the Swiss Max Abegglen behind Pedro Petrone (eight goals) the most successful goalscorer.
For his achievements, Rydell was awarded the Svenska Dagbladet gold medal in 1931 . In 2003 he was inducted into the SFS Hall Of Fame .
