Frinvillier (German Friedliswart ) is a village in the municipality of Sauge in the canton of Bern , it was first mentioned in 1311 as Friderichswart , from 1393 as Frunwelier (village or guard post of a Friederich).

The village belongs to the Bernese Jura and is located in the Schüss valley between Rondchâtel and the Taubenloch Gorge . In the west the local area borders on Orvin .

From 1797 to 1815 Frinvillier belonged to France, first to the former Mont-Terrible department , then from 1800 to the Haut-Rhin department . As a result of the Congress of Vienna , the area was assigned to the Canton of Bern in 1815.

The cantonal road Biel - Sonceboz , the railway line Biel-Sonceboz and the A 16 Transjurane motorway run through the Frinvillier valley .
