Sauge (French [ soːʒ ]) is a municipality in the Bernese Jura administrative district in the Swiss canton of Bern that was created on January 1, 2014 .
Sauge, with the new BFS no. 449, consists of the formerly independent municipalities of Plagne (FSO No. 440) and Vauffelin (FSO No. 447).

history
The municipality of Sauge was created on January 1, 2014 through the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Plagne and Vauffelin .
coat of arms
The Sauge coat of arms (French for sage) was recreated in 2014. It was rated “very good” by the “Swiss Coats of Arms and Flags” foundation. It is a talking coat of arms with the representation of three sage leaves and shows with the yellow diagonal bar that it belongs to the canton of Bern. This means that the colors gold and red of the coats of arms of the individual municipalities have been resumed.

With 815 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018) Sauge is one of the medium-sized communities in the Bernese Jura .
politics
Mayor is Pierre-Alain Grosjean (as of 2015).
The voting shares of the parties in the 2015 National Council election were: SVP 37.7%, SP 23.9%, BDP 9.3%, GPS 8.0%, FDP 5.5%, glp 5.3%, CVP 2.6 %, PdA 2.5%, pirates 1.4%, SD 1.2%, EDU 1.2%, EVP 1.1%.
