Paul Jakobi (born January 17, 1928 ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and publicist . From 1988 to 2004 he was provost at Minden Cathedral .

Career

The son of a judicial officer served as a youth as an air force helper and in the Reich Labor Service and was then taken prisoner of war . After graduating from high school in Lippstadt in 1947 , he studied theology and philosophy in Paderborn and Freiburg im Breisgau . On March 21, 1953, he was ordained a priest in Paderborn by Lorenz Cardinal Jaeger .

Jakobi first worked as a vicar in Bochum and Paderborn. He then became diocesan youth pastor for the Archdiocese of Paderborn and head of the episcopal headquarters for youth pastoral care in Düsseldorf .

From 1968 to 1988 he was Federal President of the DJK . At the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 and in Los Angeles in 1984 , he was also active as a Catholic Olympic pastor. He then went back to the parish pastoral care and was provost at Minden Cathedral from 1988 to 2004, where he succeeded Wilhelm Garg.

Jakobi is the uncle of the state church lawyer Ansgar Hense .
