Ludwig Wolker badge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With the Ludwig Wolker plaque , the German Sports Association (DSB) awarded every two years from 1980 to 2006 a personality who has done an outstanding job of promoting ethos and human dignity in sport.

At the same time, it was intended to remember Ludwig Wolker , an important representative of the denominational sports movement, who was also a founding member of the German Sports Confederation. The first prize winner in 1980 was Pastor Karl Zeiß , who became known as the Olympic pastor . In 2006, Bishop Wolfgang Huber was honored and was thus the last winner.

Since 2010, the German Olympic Sports Confederation has been awarding the DOSB Ethics Prize, which, according to its own statement, is "awarded in continuity with the Ludwig Wolker plaque" after the DOSB board meeting decided on the future prizes to be awarded by the DOSB in 2007, in which, according to the DOSB, “the previous prices of DSB and NOK should be included”.
