Mike McQuay

Michael Dennis McQuay (* 3. June 1949 in Baltimore , Maryland ; † 25. May 1995 ) was an American science fiction - author .

Life

Michael Dennis McQuay was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1949. After attending Grammar School in Baltimore and McGuiness High School in Oklahoma City , he studied at the University of Dallas from 1967 to 1970 . McQuay worked in the 1970s as a musician, aircraft worker in Asia, as a banker or as a factory worker. From 1980 he was artist-in-residence at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond .

His first novel Life-Keeper was published in the United States in 1980. His second book was Escape from New York in 1981 , the novel version of John Carpenter's movie The Rattlesnake .

His science fiction novel series include Mathew Swain , Ramon and Morgan , Executioner, and SuperBolan . He wrote the Book of Justice series under the pseudonym Jack Arnett . Mike McQuay also wrote the second of the Isaac Asimov Robot City novels . His novel Memories was nominated for the Philip K. Dick Award in 1988 . In the 1990s he worked with British writer Arthur C. Clarke and co-wrote the novel Judge 10 .

McQuay died of a heart attack on May 25, 1995 at the age of only 45.

Mike McQuay was married twice, to Mary McQuay from 1968 to 1981 and to Sandy McQuay from 1982 until his death. The marriage resulted in a son and two daughters.
