Loveresse is a municipality in the Bernese Jura administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .

geography

Loveresse is located at 761  m above sea level. M. , 11 km west-southwest of the village of Moutier (linear distance). The village extends in a hollow on the southern slope of the Jura range of the Moron , in the Juralängstal Vallée de Tavannes .

The area of ​​the 4.6 km² municipal area includes a narrow section of the wide valley basin of the Vallée de Tavannes through which the Birs flows. To the north, the area extends over the wooded steep slope ( Bois au Prince ) to the ridge of the Moron chain, where at 1281  m above sea level. M. the highest point of Loveresse is reached. On the ridge there are extensive Jura high pastures with the typical mighty spruce trees , which either stand individually or in groups. In the south, the municipality extends over the slowly rising slope Plan du Cerneux to the height of the Montoz chain (up to 1260  m above sea level ). In 1997, 6% of the municipal area was in settlements, 48% in forests and woodland, 45% in agriculture and a little less than 1% was unproductive land.

Loveresse includes the eastern part of the hamlet of Moulin-de-Loveresse ( 721  m above sea level ) on the valley floor near the confluence of the Trame and the Birs, as well as several individual farms. Neighboring municipalities of Loveresse are Reconvilier , Saules , Petit-Val and Valbirse .

With 348 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018) Loveresse is one of the smaller communities in the Bernese Jura . Of the residents, 86.2% are French-speaking, 12.9% German-speaking and 0.3% Italian-speaking (as of 2000). The population of Loveresse was 227 in 1850 and 383 in 1900. Then it decreased to 260 people by 1990; since then a clear increase in population has been recorded again.

The voting shares of the parties on the occasion of the National Council election in 2015 were: SVP 42.1%, SP 23.7%, EDU 12.1%, GPS 9.2%, FDP 4.1%, BDP 2.2%, Pirates 1.9 %, glp 1.7%, PdA 1.2%, CVP 1.0%, EVP 0.8%.

economy

Loveresse is still strongly influenced by agriculture . At the end of the 19th century, watchmaking also gained in importance in Loveresse, but could not last long. A wood processing company and a window factory now offer some jobs. Many workers are therefore commuters and work in the industrial communities of the Vallée de Tavannes.

traffic

The community is very well developed in terms of transport. It can be reached by a spur road from the main road from Delémont to Tavannes . By 2015, the A16 motorway is to be built in the Vallée de Tavannes, which will connect the Swiss national road network with the French motorway network. Loveresse itself is not connected to public transport. The nearest station on the railway line from Court to Tavannes, inaugurated on December 16, 1876, is in Reconvilier (around 1.5 km from Loveresse).

history

The first written mention under the name Loveresce dates back to 1148. Since 1267, the Bellelay monastery had large estates in the area of ​​Loveresse. The village was under the Moutier-Grandval provost until the end of the 18th century . From 1797 to 1815 Loveresse belonged to France and was initially part of the Mont-Terrible department , which was linked to the Haut-Rhin department in 1800 . By the decision of the Congress of Vienna , the place came to the canton of Bern to the district of Moutier in 1815 .

Attractions

In the center of Loveresse there are still some characteristic farmhouses from the 17th to 19th centuries. The schoolhouse with a bell tower was built in the style of late classicism . Loveresse does not have its own church, it belonged to the parish of Tavannes-Chaindon until 1928, and since then to the parish of Reconvilier.
