The Trame is a 12 km long left tributary of the Birs in the northern Jura , in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .

The Trame rises in a collapsed position near Tramelan and takes in a much longer source stream that rises on the northern slopes of the anticlines of the Montagne du Droit in the Bernese Jura on the edge of the high plateaus of the Franches-Montagnes ( Freiberge in German ). As a small brook it crosses the basin of the industrial community of Tramelan and flows eastwards, before coming through a valley between the height of La Tanne (in the south, belonging to the Montagne du Droit) and the Montbautier (in the north). Below this narrow point, the tram enters the Vallée de Tavannes in the Jura Long Valley . In a valley low on the northern edge of this basin, the brook flows through the farming villages of Saicourt and Saules and joins the Birs east of Reconvilier . This has only covered a distance of around 4 km up to this point, but has more water and retains its name, as it rises from a karst spring near Tavannes .

In the past, the water power of the Trame was used in several places by mills (including Moulin Brûlé at the narrow point below Tramelan) and sawmills.
