Sven Schmid (fencer)
Sven Schmid (* 21st January 1978 in Johannesburg ) is a German fencer in the discipline Degen and herein bronze medalist at the 2004 Olympics in Athens with the team.
The former junior world champion began his career at SV Böblingen and later moved to FC Tauberbischofsheim . In 1998 Schmid won the Frankenland tournament . The sports soldier holds the rank of sergeant major and is the trainer of the German national team of wheelchair users. On March 16, 2005, Federal President Horst Köhler and Federal Interior Minister Otto Schily awarded him the Silver Laurel Leaf .
