background

Föreningen Svensk Elitfotboll was founded in 1928. The organization, whose task is the further development of top Swedish football at club level from a sporting, economic, commercial and administrative point of view, is represented in all major bodies and committees of Svenska Fotbollförbundet . Among other things, the association is involved in the allocation of television rights. The rights have been marketed through the Kentaro Group sports rights agency since 2006 , and the contract was extended in early 2010.

Since the introduction of the Superettan in 2000, SEF has had 32 members - the 16 clubs from Allsvenskan and Superettan respectively. The association provides information on current developments and topics via the publication medium SEF-Aktuellt . In addition to its members, the magazine is aimed at cooperation partners such as referees , regional associations, etc.

Since 1992, SEF has been involved in the Tipselit project, together with Svenska Fotbollförbundet, Elitserieföreningen Damfotboll and the state lottery company Svenska Spel, to promote football for children and young people. When the Association of European Professional Football Leagues was founded in 1997, the association was one of the founding members.
