The Berlin-Kaulsdorf train station is a railway station in the district of Kaulsdorf in Berlin 's Marzahn-Hellersdorf . Located there substation of the S-Bahn is a listed building.

history

platform

The station went into operation on August 25, 1869, two years after the opening of the Eastern Railway between Berlin and Küstrin , at route kilometer 10.6. At first it was called Caulsdorf, since 1881 Kaulsdorf. To separate suburban and long-distance traffic, the so-called connection to Kaulsdorf went into operation in 1901 , which connected the station with the Berlin light rail . It met the Ostbahn in the western part of Kaulsdorf station. Since then, the old eastern railway line west of Kaulsdorf and the Kaulsdorf train station have mainly served suburban traffic. On November 6, 1928, the S-Bahn service to Kaulsdorf commenced after the suburban line was electrified and extended to Mahlsdorf on December 15, 1930 . In 1941, freight traffic from the direction of Lichtenberg was separated from the S-Bahn traffic and shifted to its own tracks.

After the Second World War, there was brief suburban traffic in 1948 from Kaulsdorf via the VnK route and the outer freight ring to Berlin-Grünau, but it was discontinued after a few months. The electric S-Bahn service was extended to Fredersdorf and Strausberg in 1947/48 . The eastern part of the VnK line between the outer ring and Kaulsdorf was shut down in 1978, later an underground line was built there and the Wuhletal station at the intersection with the eastern line .

1 May 2009 at the entrance of a train broke 481 series into the station Kaulsdorf a wheel. Failure to comply then the Federal Railway Authority Required additional security checks on the part of the train led to severe restrictions in the S-Bahn operation .

A new pedestrian bridge including two elevators to the northern forecourt with the bus station located there was built to make the station accessible . A continuation of the pedestrian bridge to the south side of the track system was prepared, but not carried out due to lack of funds. Construction began in July 2013 and was completed by the end of the year. Around 1.7 million euros from the federal infrastructure acceleration program were invested in this.

From September 4, 2017 to January 15, 2018, the bus turning loop at the bus station was renewed. During the construction work, in addition to a renewal of the road surface, the stops and sidewalks were made barrier-free, new lighting installed and 46 new bicycle parking spaces installed. Around 750,000 euros were spent on the renovation.

Investments

The small station building is north of the tracks. The station has a central platform for the S-Bahn, two thirds of which is covered. The long-distance tracks and the former freight transport facilities connect to the south. On the south side of the tracks is a rectifier system designed by Richard Brademann in 1927 for the S-Bahn traffic, which is a listed building.

Kaulsdorf is served by the S5 S-Bahn line. You can change from the S-Bahn at the bus station to bus lines 197, 269 and 399 as well as to the night line N95 operated by the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe .
