The Berlin-Biesdorf train station is a S-Bahn stop in the Berlin district of Biesdorf in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district of the Ostbahn , which is served by the S 5 S-Bahn line.
location
The station is located north of the old village center of Biesdorf on the 8.6 km line of the Ostbahn . On the west side of the facilities, Oberfeldstrasse crosses the railway line (no level crossing for cars). The residential area Biesdorf-Nord connects to the north.
The Berlin-Biesdorf stop is in the Berlin B tariff zone of the Berlin-Brandenburg transport association .
history
The S-Bahn station was opened on August 1, 1885, 18 years after the Eastern Railway was built . The two platforms built at that time are still pretty much exactly where they were built at the time. The opening of the line and the train station were of great importance, as they increased the number of inhabitants in Biesdorf and neighboring communities and thus made economic growth possible. After the opening of the Mahlsdorf S-Bahn station , this was a very busy route. Therefore, the Biesdorf station was one of the first to be converted to electrical operation on November 6, 1928.
In 1942 , the Deutsche Reichsbahn built a wooden pedestrian bridge for safe access without crossing the tracks via Oberfeldstrasse . In 1968 the bridge was replaced by a steel bridge. The entire station was closed from April to July 1945 due to war damage .
A special feature on the Oberfeldstraße from 1956 to 1973 and for adjustment of the O-bus operation the same level crossing the route of the O bus line 37 with the tracks. In 1984 the level crossing was finally closed to car traffic. Since then, it has been possible to cross the railway line on a bridge over Blumberger Damm , which was just completed at the time and located about 500 meters to the east .
In connection with extensive housing construction measures in the eastern city districts, the Reichsbahn completely restructured the track network around the Biesdorf train station in the 1980s. The Biesdorfer Kreuz was built about a kilometer to the west , in the center of which a triangular lake was created.
The S-Bahn Berlin has been operated by S-Bahn Berlin GmbH , a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn (DB), since the fall of the Berlin Wall . This took care of the renovation of all lines, among other things, from the end of 1992 to the beginning of 1993, all the tracks between the platforms in Biesdorf were renewed.
Between July 2010 and mid-2011, Deutsche Bahn had elevators installed to make the station barrier-free .
Investments
The station has two outside platforms. The northern platform for the trains going into town can be reached directly from the surrounding area to the north, the southern one is only accessible via a pedestrian bridge. The long-distance track of the Eastern Railway connects to it. Two elevators from both platforms lead to the pedestrian bridge.
