Svenska Kraftnät is a Swedish authority ( Affärsverk ) that, as the national transmission system operator, maintains the local high-voltage line network and is responsible for the electricity and, since 2005, also for the natural gas supply .

Svenska kraftnät is 100% state-owned and was created in 1992 when Vattenfall was split up into a generation and distribution company (today's Vattenfall SA) and a grid company.

The company has around 15,000 kilometers of high-voltage lines with 220 and 400 kV and is mainly financed from network usage charges . There are 16 connections with neighboring countries.
