Svindersvik is a mansion in the Rococo style from the mid-18th century. It is located on the southern bank of Svindersviken in the municipality of Nacka , east of Stockholm . The farm is one of the best preserved Rococo complexes in Sweden .

Svindersvik manor was designed for the merchant Claes Grill and family by architect Carl Hårleman and built as a summer home around 1740. Claes Grill (1705–1767) was a wealthy man, he owned the then largest Swedish trading company "Carlos & Claës Grill", and he was one of the directors of the East India Company . His professional contacts to distant countries are reflected in the rich facilities of Svindersvik.

The property consists of a two-storey main building made of plastered brickwork. The floor plan was arranged strictly symmetrically, with a central axis through the entrance, dining room and balcony. On the left side of this axis is the richly furnished salon, on the right side are two smaller rooms, one of which is the bedroom. The upper floor is dominated by a large billiard room with the original table from the 18th century. In the rooms there are tiled stoves with blue decor and seating furniture covered with silk fabric. The walls are decorated with Chinese rice paper wallpapers with East Indian flower patterns. Most of the furniture in Svindersvik has remained unchanged since the early days.

To the east of the main building is the kitchen wing, built on a cellar vault from the 16th century. The kitchen equipment is intact and shows a very modern design for its time with built-in cupboards, marble work surfaces, kitchen sink with drain and a large fireplace. The so-called pavilion, built around 1750, is located on the beach. Among other things, there is a ballroom here that could accommodate up to 200 people. The hall was heated by an open fireplace and a 4.65 meter high tiled stove, probably one of the tallest in Sweden.

Other smaller buildings served as houses for the servants and the gardener, they are now privately owned. The former brewery has been converted into a summer café. The former garden has been partially preserved, here are ancient apple trees that were still planted by Claes Grill at the time.

In 1780 the Grill family sold Svindersvik and many other owners followed. In 1949 Svindersvik became the property of the Nordic Museum , which has managed the complex ever since and makes it accessible to the general public in the summer months. In the main building, kitchen wing and pavilion, electricity or a modern heating system has never been installed and everything has been left in its original condition. Svindersvik is thus a unique document of the Swedish rococo.
