Svobodní (until 2019 Strana svobodných občanů , German "Party of Free Citizens") is a Czech party that is committed to classical liberalism and conservatism . The party was founded in 2009. The party chairman has been Petr Mach since then .

The party includes many companions of the former Czech President Václav Klaus , with whom the party is also ideologically connected. Like Klaus, the party advocates a free market economy and a limitation of bureaucracy and is skeptical of the EU . Since its inception, the party has not been able to break the 5% threshold in any nationwide national election. However, the party of free citizens surprisingly managed to get into the European Parliament with 5.24% in the 2014 European elections . Party chairman Petr Mach was elected as the new MP and joined the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy Group .

In the 2019 European elections, she was unable to repeat this success with just 0.65 percent of the vote.
