Coordinates: 31 ° 53 ′ S , 116 ° 0 ′ E The City of Swan is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . Swan belongs to the metropolis of Perth , the capital of Western Australia. The area is 1,043 km² and has around 134,500 inhabitants (2016).
Swan City is located in the northeast of Perth and is traversed by the Swan River. It is about ten to 30 kilometers from Perth city center. The seat of the City Council is in the Midland district, where about 6000 people live (2016).

The Swan City Council has 15 members. The councilors are elected by the residents of the seven wards (three each from Altone, Ballajura and Midland Ward, two each from Ellenbrook and SwanValley / Gidgegannup, one each from Guildford and North Ward). The mayor (mayor) and council chairman is recruited from among the councilors.
