The Swanson Mountains are a 13 km long mountain range in Marie Byrd Land, West Antarctica . In the Ford Ranges, they tower 10 km southeast of Saunders Mountain .
They were discovered in 1934 during overflights during the second Antarctic expedition (1933–1935) of the US polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd . He named it after the US politician Claude A. Swanson (1862-1939), Minister of the Navy under US President Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1933 to 1939.
