Swedish Motor Corporation (Pvt.) Ltd. was an automobile manufacturer in Gaborone , Botswana . CKD kits from Volvo models were assembled .

history

The company started assembling Volvo trucks in 1994.

The plant also started automobile production in 1998. The Volvo S40 and Volvo V40 were produced .

The plant was operated by Wheels of Africa . This operation ended in 2000 together with the Motor Company of Botswana . This company was also operated by Wheels of Africa .

The assembly of the trucks was taken over by Volvo after the dissolution of the Swedish Motor Corporation in 2000 and ended in 2005 when it was relocated to Durban in South Africa for economic reasons.
