Sweet Baby James is a music album by James Taylor .

history

James Taylor had returned to the United States from the UK in 1968 and released his debut album that year. In 1969 he had several successful live performances after being treated for his drug addiction. After the Newport Folk Festival , he broke both hands in a motorcycle accident and was unable to perform for several months. After recovering, he went to the recording studio in late 1969 and recorded the songs for the Sweet Baby James album . In February 1970 the album came on the market. As a single Warner released the song Fire and Rain , which came to third place on the Billboard charts. James Taylor had his first hit with it. The album Sweet Baby James also made it to third place on the pop album charts. The music magazine Rolling Stone selected the album in the list of the 500 best albums of all time at number 104 and the song Fire and Rain in the list of the best 500 songs of all time. The song Steamroller Blues was covered by Elvis Presley and released as a single in 1973. The recording for the single is a live recording from the show Aloha from Hawaii . Presley's version was even included in the 2007 compilation The Essential Elvis Presley .
