Sweet Home is a small town in Linn County , Oregon , United States .

The name "Gateway to the Santiam Playground" for the place comes from the nearby lakes and rivers of the cascade chain. The current Mayor ( City Manager ) is Craig Fentiman. The city's motto is Oregon at its best .

history

The Sweet Home Valley on the South Santiam River was settled from 1851. In 1893 the town was granted city rights ( Municipal corporation ).

Sweet Home has 8,016 inhabitants (2000, estimate for 2009: 8,692). The population density in 2000 was 580.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. The place has an area of ​​14.9  km² (land area: 13.8 km², water area: 1.1 km²).

Sweet Home is near the intersection of Oregon Route 228 and US Route 20 .

The place is 163.7 meters above sea level .
