The Swift Reservoir is a reservoir in Skamania County , Washington state . It was created in 1958 after the Swift Dam was built by damming the Lewis River .
The reservoir is around 14 km long and has an area of 18.7 km². In addition to the Lewis River, it is fed by some streams such as Drift Creek and Range Creek , whose partially flooded valleys now form small bays of the Swift Reservoir. The reservoir owes its name to the Swift Creek , which flows into the dam , which rises on the southern slope of the nearby Mount St. Helens . Swift Reservoir is the uppermost and largest of three reservoirs on the Lewis River, with Yale Lake and Lake Merwin downstream .
Two recreational facilities - Swift Forest Camp and Eagle Cliff Park , both with boat docks - are located on the east end of the lake. Accessible via a forest service road in the adjacent Gifford Pinchot National Forest that runs along the north bank of the Swift Reservoirs .
