Swing Kids was a mid- 90's existing emocore / hardcore punk band from San Diego , California / USA .
history
The band was only active for a few years, but its influence on other emocore bands, especially on later so-called screamo bands, is great. The band itself is often assigned to the Screamo.
After the breakup, Eric Allen, who was still playing with the hardcore punk band Unbroken , committed suicide. Justin Pearson was then active in numerous bands, especially The Locust , Holy Molar , Some Girls and The Crimson Curse .
style
Your style should be typical of the emo and later screamo sound. The singing of Justin Person, who alternated between emotionally sung texts and word repetitions to longer - sometimes brutal - screaming parts, was formative.
The song structure often seems chaotic, which was formative for later Screamobands. Fast and slower parts alternate, as do quieter parts and explosive outbursts.
The 7 "in particular is interspersed with quotes from jazz history, for example, there is a picture of Marion Brown in the inner sleeve and the piano / drums intro of the first piece is a clear homage to Cecil Taylor .
