Swissôtel Zurich
The Swissôtel Zurich is a hotel at Zurich Oerlikon train station in Switzerland . With 347 rooms it is the eighth largest hotel in Switzerland . With a height of 85 meters and 32 floors, it is the tallest hotel building in Zurich.
In 1972 it was opened under the name Hotel International Zurich . In 1980 a management contract was signed with Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts , founded by Swissair and Nestlé . Since then the hotel has been officially called Swissôtel Zurich .
In 1988, a major fire broke out on the 31st floor, where a restaurant was operated, caused by spontaneous combustion when a fuel stove was refilled. Today there are meeting and event rooms on this floor.
A hairdresser has been located on the ground floor of the hotel since it opened . A confectionary has been rented in the building since 1995 . The Starbucks coffee house has also had a branch in the building since 2003 .
In 2011, after more than 20 years of operation, the Scenario and Dialog restaurants and the Edison Bar were closed. After a three-month renovation phase, a new Le Muh restaurant concept was created. The hotel is the official partner of the annual Art on Ice ice art gala in Zurich's Hallenstadion . The hotel is also a service partner of CSI Zurich .
On August 26, 2013, the Zurich city council added the building to the list of historical monuments.
